An Amazing Day at Easter Seals Daytona
Friday, November 30, 2007
Yesterday was an amazing day. I had the privilege of flying down to Daytona and spending the afternoon at the Easter Seals Center with 10 of our giving, loving, selfless IBOs.
The day started with a ride on the corporate jet down to Ft. Lauderdale to pick up the Nardones, the Mazzeos, the Webbs, the Kerrs and Aris Pavlides. We then shot up to Daytona where we met Doyle Yager and my Easter Seals partner Pam Spaeth.
At the center we had lunch while we heard stories from the grandparents of one child and the father of another. They talked about how Easter Seals always looks at their children as children with abilities and potential, rather than disabilities and challenges. This positive mental attitude and the genuine care that the staff has for the kids was evident throughout the day.
We saw it in the classrooms and in the therapy centers. We saw it with the teachers, the therapists, the day care workers, the receptionist, the staff and the board members. But where this positive attitude and love showed most was in the faces of the children.
We had a tour of the center, we got to get down on the ground and play with the kids, and the best part for me was going into the baby room of the daycare to rock a beautiful brown-eyed baby.
The day gave us all the opportunity to see how our money is used. And, let me assure you the funds we raise for Easter Seals are wisely spent and the impact is immeasurable.
