How far would you go to help kids?
Monday, September 24, 2007

Our colleagues and IBOs in Canada will drop from skyscrapers to help Easter Seals Canada kids.  Read on.

"Hi there Quixtar! My name is Karim Kanji and I am an IBO in Toronto, Canada. This business rocks and so does Quixtar. I just wanted to rely my thoughts and experiences regarding an awesome event that took place this past Monday. The Easter Seals DropZone Event. This event took place all across Canada and Quixtar was the National Founding Sponsor. What an amazing time myself and some of my friends and family had. The event actually started a number of months ago during the Quixtar Fair in Toronto. Easter Seals was there taking registrations for the event. Everyone had to raise a minimum of $1500 to be eligible to LEAP off of a tall downtown building! The $1500 was not the problem! Falling off the top of a building was daunting to say the least! In fact, raising the $1500 was a challenge but we managed to surpass that amount. Rappelling down 175 Bloor East - North Tower was an experience I will never forget! I even managed to do the jump twice. Must have been the XS! After a short training the Friday before I thought I was ready. But nothing can get you ready for this. We got ourselves geared up and made our way to the roof. What a beautiful day: BLUE SKY with no clouds in sight. The team hooked me up, I went to the ledge and put my legs over, and then the lady says, "OK, off you go!" Huh? Next thing I knew I was hanging 200ft over Bloor Street in Toronto. My brother got the DJ to play "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns and Roses (an old childtime fav!) as I rappelled down! What a blast! Thank you Quixtar! Thank you Easter Seals! I know I helped out but you gave me the opportunity to have a blast and so I thank You!

Amazing, what a story he'll have to tell to his child, who was obviously watching... a true hero to his children. Congrats Karim!!!

Do you know why you had clear blue skies? There were a group of people below praying for the thunder and the rain to quietly pass you bye! :)

Layla,

I have a someone who would be interested in becoming an IBO if she knew that she could use the profit from her Quixtar business to fund her non-profit organization. Is this possible? I know that Alticor has specific guidelines for sponsoring/donating to certain organizations and this probably would not fit into the criteria. They are teaching the arts to underserved kids in Harlem NY. Can you let me know how I can get more info- who at Quixtar can help me to get her question answered. It's a wonderful cause and I know it can be done since there is a teacher on the thisbiznow.com site that dedicated her Quixtar profits to her Kids4AfghanKids program. Can you provide me with more information? Appreciate it - thanks.

Hi E.Rod. Thanks for your comments. There are specific rules regarding promoting your business as a way to benefit a non-profit or charity. The best resource to learn more about the rules is our Business Conduct and Rules Department. Call our main number 616-787-6000 and they'll transfer you.

Hi Leyla, still haven't heard from that dept. and it's been over 2 weeks. Can you help me out with more details? As an IBO - I assume that we have the right to donate whatever profits we earn through our Quixtar business to any charitable cause we choose. However, we cannot link any charities directly to Quixtar.com -right? If you want to email me off the blog - you know my email addie. Thanks again for your help!

I've spoken with rules and provided them your email address. They should be responding shortly. Thanks for the nudge and happy Thanksgiving.
