A small group of thoughtful committed kids
Tuesday, January 30, 2007

Margaret Mead once said "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

I want to draw your attention to a small group of thoughtful committed school kids from Northville, Michigan. At a time when international understanding is critical to the future, especially when it comes to Muslim nations, these kids are working their tails off raising money to help their counterparts in Afghanistan. Through a non-profit organization, Kids 4 Afghan Kids, they established with the help of their teacher and Quixtar IBO, Khris Nedam, they've raised enough money to witness the construction of a six-room school, an orphanage, a bakery/kitchen, a guest house and a community well.

You can surmise that life for the children of Wonkhai Valley, a mountainous area three hours southwest of Kabul is extremely different from life in Northville, Michigan. Yet, there are things we all have in common as people, the desire for a better future for our children, health, food, shelter, and an education. These are things many of us here in the U.S. take for granted - how wonderful that a group of students felt compelled enough to share their blessings with kids half-way around the world.

Their mission, to make a better world for their fellow students in Afghanistan through humanitarian assistance, will do much more to advance cultural understanding and compassion for our fellow man. And their ranks are growing. While Kids 4 Afghan Kids started at one Northville elementary school, now schools from Colorado to Illinois and Kentucky have joined the effort.

I encourage you to visit www.kids4afghankids.com to learn about what these wonderful students have accomplished and what they're currently working on.

My name is Jim Gould and I am the founder of the Charity World Network.  I found your blog site and think you're really interesting. I'm wondering if you might be interested in what we're doing here, too.   Our website is at www.charityworldnetwork.org.  The purpose of this network is to help different charities and non-profit organizations benefit from online shopping. As you know, there's literally billions being spent online, but really, how much of that goes to charity? Not a lot.

During my life as a stock broker for forty years, I served on the Boards of many nonprofits.  They all had great aspirations and noble missions.  However, we spent most of our time discussing and planning how to raise the money to fund these programs.  The solutions all involved asking for contributions.  I dedicated myself to find a way that gave power to non-profits.  We have 1,000 nationally known stores that have agreed to rebate money when people do their online shopping through the Charity World Network.

We'd like to ask you to join in helping us spread the world about what we're trying to do for non-profits.   Please consider posting this button on your website and joining Charity World Network.  It only takes a minute, but it can make a big difference and help people learn that when they shop online, they can help a charity at the same time. I'm sure you're asking what might be in it for you. Well, I hope what is in it for you is a sense that you're really helping direct some of the consumer money spent online over to the people and causes that need it.   Take some time to think about it and get back to me. I really hope to hear from you soon; and if you have any questions at all, please email me or give us a phone call. Thanks!
