Welcome to the One by One blog site. Before we get started, I wanted to share a little about what One by One is and what this blog will be.
One by One refers to the Alticor family of companies' corporate philanthropy program, the One by One Campaign for Children. One by One calls all Alticor affiliates, employees, and Independent Business Owners to rally around one unified cause, improving the lives of children.
I work for Quixtar, one of the Alticor companies. At Quixtar, through One by One we serve as national sponsors of Easter Seals here in the U.S. and also in Canada, and also as national sponsors of the U.S. Dream Academy in the U.S.
For more than 80 years, Easter Seals has been providing services to children and adults with disabilities, and their families.
The U.S. Dream Academy focuses on breaking the cycle of incarceration in our country through education and values mentoring programs focused on the children of prisoners and those falling behind in school.
These are two very worthwhile causes, but One by One doesn't end here. Around the world, Alticor companies support myriad other organizations and causes that improve the well-being of children. Since One by One was launched in 2003, Quixtar and our sister company, Amway Corp. have given more than $37 million and 545,000 volunteer hours worldwide.
Quixtar Independent Business Owners are also out there every day, giving their time and their hearts to help children live better lives. Frankly, we know about a small fraction of what they’re doing on a daily basis to make our world a better place. This blog provides a forum for Quixtar IBOs to share what it is they’re doing. It's also a way to share information on the needs of children around the world and what opportunities exist to positively impact their futures.
